It's a good start. Kirkland 18 Year Speyside Single Malt tastes very much like it smells. It's nutty and malty up front from the sherry finishing with moderate honey, apricot, wood, vanilla, buttercream, spice, and minimal alcohol. In my humble opinion, 40% is a terrible proof for older single malts. Why let whiskey age for nearly two.

A hint of smokiness (didn't pick up in the nose, though). No peat here at all. Sherry finish is unmistakable, and quite pleasant. Make that very pleasant. Finish: short and sweet, but very smooth- Smoothness you'd like to see in a 20yr scotch. Overall: very drinkable, very enjoyable.

Intro: Bottled after 23 years of aging with a sherry finish of undisclosed duration, Costco's popular release once again comes to us under the Kirkland Signature house brand, bottled by Alexander Murray. Nose: Fudge, cocoa, some fig, honey, pear. Rich raisin bread, vanilla bean and custard. Pretty darn rich.

Yes, it's tasty. I like it better than last years. Very sherry forward, love this batch! I have 3 bottles of it thanks to friends picking it up for me unintentionally. I have not tried it but have tried other brands and I'm not into Sherry Casking. Some wood clashes with aging or casking. And the bottles I have tried - some have won.
